RICAP supports vulnerable people in the communities it serves. The power to change lives for the better begins with you and within the communities themselves.
Do you believe in the power of volunteerism? RICAP does! Outreach workers are volunteers and at same time are members of the community they work in. Outreach work enables the organization to identify and select beneficiaries and establish contact and gain an understanding of the problems they face. Like most community members, each of the volunteer understands the reality of living under the shadow of HIV/AIDS, poverty and carries this understanding into the work within the community.
RICAP has been working at grassroots community level for over 15 years now implementing projects that directly benefit communities in advancing their social equality and human rights. The organization works across four thematic areas: (1) To improve Community health in order to contribute to the national health objectives and SDGs. (2) To strengthen community care and support for orphans and vulnerable children and access to quality education. (3) To promote community participation in inclusive and participatory governance through advocacy and social accountability techniques (4) To strengthen community empowerment of vulnerable groups through vocational skills training for youths and economic support initiatives targeting women and grandmothers.
We believe that empowering these socially excluded groups of people can lead to action and sustainable change in the community. Your support is welcome.
We target people with special needs in society including those who are disabled, Children, women, people living with HIV/AIDS, orphans and young people especially the girl child.

RICAP uses Advocacy and Social Accountability techniques in ensuring that all people regardless of their status in society should live a satisfactory life and have an opportunity to enjoy their civil & human rights. RICAP strives to empower the community to try out their own ideas about a life lived in dignity. It endeavours – through community sensitizations, community engagement, civic education, advocacy and publicity – to influence change in the community in the interest of the most vulnerable especially children, women and youth to strengthen the community voice to demand for equitable, transparent and accountable public service delivery. The organization considers this as one of the sustainable participatory methodologies to liberate people from socio- economic hardships.
Enhancing livelihoods through Savings & Internal lending Communities-(SILC) aims to provide savings and simple insurance facilities in communities that do not have access to formal sector financial services. A SILC is a self-selected group of people, who pool their money into a fund, from which members can borrow. The money is paid back with interest, causing the fund to grow.
The projects endeavor to reduce the number of children dropping out of school early due to lack of school fees and other school requisites. The organization offers support at different levels starting from early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary levels.
MOBILIZING THE COMMUNITY FOR ACTION
Through joint programs with other stakeholders RICAP is now involved in drawing community’s attention to important cross – cutting issues such as:
Zambia has prioritized Health in its long-term socio-economic development agenda has guided by the National Vision 2030 which aims at transforming the country into a middle income prosperous nation by 2030. RICAP supports this vision through the provision of continuum of care with particular emphasis on; promotional, preventive, curative and rehabilitation services at community level.
Water-borne diseases have become more widespread as safe water becomes inaccessible and/or in case of flooding. Sanitary infrastructure in many areas is inadequate or lacking and such a situation has favored the spread of deadly diseases that are linked to rising temperatures, high rainfall and inadequate waste disposal facilities.
The organization believes that “Education is life itself”. It also helps to slow down the effects of poverty and it improves prospects of life.
This a testimony from a community youth champion:
