What We Do

MOBILIZING THE COMMUNITY FOR ACTION

Through joint programs with other stakeholders RICAP is now involved in drawing community’s attention to important cross – cutting issues such as:

  • Human rights promotion
  • Gender & Social Inclusion
  • Land acquisition and administration
  • Cultural remodeling of some harmful sexual practices that predispose women and girl to HIV / AIDS
  • Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation
  • Water, Sanitation, and hygienic promotion
  • Environmental governance
  • Advanced and Social Accountability
Health & Nutrition

Zambia has prioritized Health in its long-term socio-economic development agenda has guided by the National Vision 2030 which aims at transforming the country into a middle income prosperous nation by 2030. RICAP supports this vision through the provision of continuum of care with particular emphasis on; promotional, preventive, curative and rehabilitation services at community level.

  • Supporting child health and nutrition through food supplementation and relief food distribution
  • Promote sexual & reproductive health and rights for adolescents and young women. This includes Menstrual Hygiene Management for school going girls. Support efforts in the prevention of malaria, TB, HIV and STIs
  • Supplement government efforts in the fight against COVID-19 at individual, family, community and district levels in all the areas in which the organization has presence.
Water & Sanitation

Water-borne diseases have become more widespread as safe water becomes inaccessible and/or in case of flooding. Sanitary infrastructure in many areas is inadequate or lacking and such a situation has favored the spread of deadly diseases that are linked to rising temperatures, high rainfall and inadequate waste disposal facilities. 

  • Conduct community awareness on personal, household and community hygiene cleanliness and sanitationt
  • Support construction of pit latrines, refuse pits, wells and encourage tree planting
  • support climate and impact mitigation efforts to reduce negative effects of climate change
Education

The organization believes that “Education is life itself”. It also helps to slow down the effects of poverty and it improves prospects of life. 

  • To bridge this gap, RICAP offers educational support to over 1,500 OVC in government and community schools.
  • Conduct life skills training for youth doing vocational skills training
  • Support enrollment in tertiary institutions for deserving vulnerable children
